SCHAVEMAKER INVEST BUILDS ANOTHER CONTAINER DEPOT

Schavemaker Invest has selected through a tender a contractor for an investment to build a storage yard for empty shipping containers. Under the contract signed on 14.05.2021 the main contractor for construction works will be BERGER BAU.

The new transshipment point will be an answer to the growing demand of the customers of Schavemaker Container Terminal for container storage. The depot will be located in the immediate vicinity of the A4 motorway (at the exit for Kąty Wrocławskie), approximately 15 km from the motorway junction Wrocław-Południe. It will be a nearly 10,000 m2 yard that will accommodate 1,200 TEUs.

The facility will be suitable for storing empty 20 ft, 40 ft and 45 ft containers up to five floors high using reachstackers. The yard will be paved with aggregate and concrete slabs, and its central maneuvering lane will be additionally covered with a bituminous layer. The entire area will be fenced, lit and monitored by security guards 24 hours a day.

Operations at the storage yard will be carried out using a modern IT system connected to the main Schavemaker terminal in Kąty Wrocławskie at ul. Fabryczna 1.
Construction work is scheduled to begin in June 2021 and the yard is scheduled to open in autumn 2021.
